Hello parents and
players of this year's London Devilettes Novice House League division. My name is Peter
Wethey and I will be the Novice House League convenor this year.
This will provide you with details regarding your athlete’s Evaluation Sessions, which start this
Saturday Sept. 29th and end
Tuesday Oct. 2nd, This year all Saturday ice will be at Argyle arena and all Tuesday ice will also be at the Argyle arena. Teams will be drafted following the last assessment and you will hear from the head coach of your team shortly after the team draft. First team practice will be
Saturday October 6th 2018.
Based on the number of players registered, there will be 5 teams this year. Currently we only have 2 head coaching position volunteers with another 3 assistant coaching positions volunteers. If you have any interest in coaching a team please email me ASAP (we urgently need 2 more head coaches and a few more assistant coaches). No prior coaching experience or certification needed. The schedule for the first third of the season will be added to the web site shortly after the evaluations conclude.
Please read through the email below in full to ensure that you know what to expect at the evaluation sessions.
STEPS TO FOLLOW
1. The assessors will evaluate by jersey colour and number so it is vital that your athlete keeps the same jersey for all evaluation sessions. Jerseys will be collected at the end of the last evaluation session on October 2nd. The teams will be established using the evaluation results to draft the teams. To ensure a balance set of teams, it is important that your athlete do their best so the team’s can be created with accurate information. Please encourage your athlete to do their best at the evaluation sessions.
2. Using the chart below, find the assigned time for your athlete’s evaluation session. Please attend your assigned session. With 60 athletes to organize it is impossible to shuffle athletes around to accommodate everyone's special requests and personal schedules.
3. When you arrive at Argyle arena on Saturday, a table will be set up in the foyer with an attendant handing out assigned jerseys. Please go to this table to collect your athlete’s jersey when you arrive at the arena. Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your athlete’s assigned evaluation session start time.
I am seeking 3 volunteers to assist with Jersey assignment at the evaluation session on Saturday September 29th. Please reply back to me via email if you are interested in assisting with this. You will need to be at Argyle arena at least 45 minutes before our first ice time (arrive no later than 10:15am). I will need 1 person to record the jersey number each athlete receives, and 2 people to hand out jerseys to the athletes. Pre-printed athlete names will be provided and this will be as simple as recording the number of jersey the player receives. A good opportunity to meet some the families involved in the league this year!
I am also seeking some on-ice volunteers to run the evaluation drills. The drill details will be provided to you prior to the evaluation sessions. All you need is a helmet, stick and skates to help execute the drills. This will allow the coaches to watch off ice and record their evaluation results. This is great opportunity to meet the coaches!
