U21 HL Games Start Tonight - Tue Nov 3
We begin to have referees for our ice times going forward so we wanted to make sure everyone was aware.

The play will still be the modified play of either 4v4+goalies or 3v3+goalies depending on how many players are at each session.  I will list some of the basic info that we have been given.

For now we are balancing the players within a Group and playing Best of 5 series'.  Once one side wins 3 games, we will shuffle the players a bit and play another 5 game series.  The plan is in January to then adjust things up a bit to have have squads 1 to 4 (Extended Group A) rotate through each other and squads 5 to 8 (Extended Group B) rotate through each other.

Games will have a max of 11 skaters plus 1 goalie on each side for every group.  There is a 5-minute warmup and then there are 2 periods of 22-minute RUN time.  If things are delayed, we adjust the periods so that we end after 50-minutes of our ice time.

If 8 or more players per side are in attendance, we will play 4v4+ goalie.
If 7 or less players per side ..., then we will play 3v3+goalie.

The maximum # of players on the Bench at both Western Fair & Argyle are 6 per bench.  If we have all players in attendance, the 7th bench player has to be in the penalty box at Argyle or in behind the players at Western Fair.

Simply put, do not be side-by-side on the bench.  If the benches are marked, stay in those spots.

Centre Ice "face-offs" will be alternating possession and will not be true face-offs.  Sort of like a start in a Soccer game.

After any stoppages of play (saves, over the boards, off-side, icing, goals, penalties, etc), the Referee will whistle in the start of play just like soccer or basketball once the opposing team gives the required amount of space.

"Giving the zone" ... on many instances, the defensive team will get possession and the opponent players have to give the Blue line or Red line.  There some circumstances where the Ref will let you know that you only to give 2-metres.

3v3 rules ... if a penalty occurs in 3v3, then the player is assessed their penalty and a penalty shot is awarded.
1) If the goal is scored, then the defending team get the zone and the other team clears the zone.
2) If the goal is NOT scored, the shooters teams gets possession on their side of the Red line and the defending team starts in their own zone.

4v4 rules ... if a penalty occurs you have a Power Play.  If the same team gets another penalty, then a Penalty Shot is awarded and the team continues on a Power Play.
