The Fireballs and Vipers were in Woodstock this weekend while the Predators and Cherry Bombs were in Windsor for tournaments.
The Fireballs played some excellent games and came away with a third place finish in Woodstock. The Vipers played some of their best games of the year and made it all the way to the finals where they played an unbeaten team from Niagara Falls. The Vipers put forth a valiant effort however Niagara Falls prevailed. Congratulations Vipers on your silver medal!
The Predators and Cherry Bombs were playing six Windsor area teams and the locals made it tough on the London girls. The Predators and Cherry Bombs marched through the round robin and were pitted against each other in an all London semifinal. The Predators charged out to an early lead however the Cherry Bombs mounted a comeback tying the game at 2-2 after regulation. 3 on 3 overtime ensued and with both goalies stopping breakaways in the extra frame it looked like a shootout was inevitable. A late rush by the Predators resulted in the winning goal with 27 seconds left in overtime propelling them to the finals.
The Predators faced Windsor in the finals and played arguably their best game of the tournament. The game was in the balance until the final minutes when Windsor scored an insurance goal to win 2-0.
