PANTHERS WIN WOODSTOCK TOURNAMENT
The Bantam House league Panthers (Team #1) competed in
the Woodstock Wildcats Tournament January 2-4.
Our opening game was against Woodstock on Friday morning. After scoring a goal in the second period, our girls came up with three more in the third for a 4-0 win. Sydney Johnson earned the shutout in a full team effort. We met the Mississauga Twisters in game two on Friday afternoon. Another total team effort earned the girls a 5-1 victory. The girls skated well on the big ice! We met the Belmont Blazers in the old Civic Arena. Belmont was a tough and physical team and took a 3-1 lead in the second. Our girls never let up and put on a ton of pressure in the third but only came up with one goal in the 3-2 loss. We advanced to the semis against Woodstock, winning 4-1 to take us to the finals on Sunday against the Blazers. We were back in the old Civic barn in a hard fought back and forth game which was tied at 1-1 at the end of the third period. Grace Murray scored the overtime winner deep into the period to give us the win! Congratulations to the girls for a well-played tournament where we outscored the competition 17-6.
