Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 season
Hello parents, athletes, and coaches,

I would like welcome everyone to the 2021/2022 London Devilettes U13 House League season. My name is Peter Wethey and I will be the U13 House League convenor this year.

For those returning to the devilettes, welcome back, and for those new to the league we are glad to have you aboard. I am sure this year will be another fun and exciting year of hockey where the athletes can enjoy reconnecting with their hockey friends or making new hockey friends, in addition to developing their skills and experiencing the excitement of normal games again.

We are expecting hockey to return to normal operation this year, however this could change if the health unit or province impose additional restrictions over time. Let’s keep our fingers crossed we have seen the last of restrictions impacting our hockey operations. I have included a link to the Devilette’s web site below for your convenience should you wish to have a look. I will be updating the U13 HL web site throughout the year with information and game results.

We are planning to conduct 2 assessment sessions on Saturday Oct. 2nd and Sunday Oct 3rd.  I will be sending a follow up email out in a couple days with the assessment ice time your athlete has been assigned. Teams will be assembled following the last assessment session. You will hear from the head coach of your team shortly after the teams are assembled. We are anticipating five U13 teams this year. Our ice times will be Saturday and Sunday each week (see below for details). I will post the schedule for the first half of the season once the teams are assembled. There will be some minor adjustments to the schedule as the season progresses to account for blackout dates that affect ice availability and tournaments our teams enter impacting our ability to run games. Yes, tournaments are expected to resume this year, but this could also change over time.

Please note that the city has change room restrictions in place that need to be followed. Your athlete must come dressed and leave dressed with the exception of helmet, skates and gloves. You are permitted entry into the arena no more that 15 minutes ahead of your assigned ice times. The city arena covid screening and check in policies will be followed prior to our teams being assigned. Once the teams are assigned each team will assign covid managers to verify the ice time screening for all athletes and team staff and check in their teams. Masks must be worn before & after ice times while in the dressing rooms. If these rules are not followed the city will restrict our access to additional capacity. PLEASE FOLLOW ALL THE RULES!

Currently we need a couple more head coaches, if you would like to volunteer please email me. We are also seeking a 5th goalie with registration recently being opened up to facilitate a 5th team. This will allow players who did not make competitive teams join a Devilette’s house league team.

Below I have included some information about the assessment sessions for those new to process or for those looking for a refresher.

ASSESSMENT STEPS:
1.       When you arrive at arena for your first assessment session, a table will be set up with a volunteer handing out jerseys. Please go to this table to collect your athlete’s jersey when you arrive at the arena for the first assessment session. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your athlete’s assigned assessment session start time.

2.        The assessors will evaluate athletes by jersey colour and number so it is vital that your athlete keeps the same jersey for all evaluation sessions. Jerseys will be collected at the end of the last assessment session. The teams will be established using the evaluation results. To ensure a balanced set of teams, it is important that your athlete do their best at the assessments so the team’s can be created with accurate information. Please encourage your athlete to do their best.

3.       I will publish list of assessment ice times by last name shortly.  Please attend your assigned ice time session. With almost 80 athletes to organize, it is impossible to shuffle athletes around to accommodate everyone's special requests and personal schedules. If you have a conflict for a critical item please email me and I will do my best to accommodate your request.

I am seeking a few volunteersto assist with Jersey assignment at the first assessment sessions. Please reply back to me via email if you are interested in assisting with this. You will need to be at arena at least 25 minutes before our first ice time. This is a great opportunity to meet some of the families involved in the league this year!

I am also seeking some on-ice volunteersto run the evaluation drills. The drill details will be provided to you prior to the evaluation sessions. All you need is a helmet, gloves, stick and skates to help execute the drills. This will allow the coaches to watch off ice and record their evaluation results. This is great opportunity to meet the coaches!

I am looking forward to meeting you, and enjoying a great season of hockey ahead!
