Atom A take Silver in Detroit
Our girls arrived in the USA ready to play some hockey and have some fun last weekend !!  With a great game schedule of not too early and not too late games our girls were pumped to get game one under their belts. They came out flying scoring early and winning game one by 10-2 margin...

After a yummy lunch and some video games, the girls were back at the rink to take on a tough Kitchener team. We put the first one on the board  from good hustle by Chloe P and they tied it at one a few minutes later. It was a back and forth game with both teams getting chances and our super goalie Audrey keeping us in the game. Kitchener scored late in the 3rd to take a 2-1 lead and then their goalie shut us down in one of our best battles this season.

Meanwhile back at the hotel, the girls went for a swim and we were setting up for our Christmas Party. The girls enjoyed a pizza party with veggies, fruit, chips and a Devilette cake and then played secret Santa and all received some nice gifts from their team mates. A big thanks to Angela for setting up the Team Party, the girls had a great time. The parents were enjoying a few beverages and had their own fun with the white elephant gift exchange. Mark ended up taking home the prize Team Gnome which proved to be a big hit that night.

Saturday morning our girls were facing Michigan Belle Tire and came out peppering shots on their goalie but we did not buy one until the 2nd period. Michigan tied it in the 3rd and our mini wall Emma shut them down the rest of the way. A late break away rush from Natalie sealed the deal for the 2-1 win.  We would go on to play Michigan in the semi finals later that day. Our girls were super pumped and came out flying, making some great passes and fore-checking like a " swarm of bees" as the Ref called us. We got one in the 1st, two in the 2nd and one in the 3rd to win 4-0 and head to the finals against number 1 Kitchener.

Kitchener came out strong with something to prove and took and early 1-0 lead. Our diminutive group of girls battled hard all game keeping the score at 1-0 until the 3rd. We had some chances but Kitchener proved to be too tough that day getting a late goal in the 3rd and then an empty netter to win 3-0.

The girls were all smiles with their silver medal and went home with some hardware and some great memories. Chloe B was chosen as the Team MVP and received a custom stick. Sarah earned the trophy for offensive player of the tournament and Chloe J earned the honors on the defensive end.

Good job girls and lets keep up the hard work !!!
