Peewee A minors take SILVER in London Devilettes 28th Tournament
The Peewee A minor team represented their home tournament well this past weekend. They stepped out on the ice every game ready to win!
Friday the girls met Ancaster Avalanche and battled right to the end leaving the game with a score of 1-1. The next game was against Toronto Leaside Wildcats. This was a very fast game and both teams came out strong. The game finished with a 3-0 win giving Tweedie a strong shut out. With a long break on Saturday the girls hit the ice late in the day to battle North York Storm. They were all in it to win it. The girls played extremely well and Ballantyne finished with a shut out for this game with a 4-0 win. It was early to bed for these girls Saturday night as the coaching staff and the girls knew that meeting Stratford in the semifinals early Sunday morning would be a tough battle. Both teams came out blazing Saturday morning. The game finished with a 0-0 tie and off to over time it was. After 2 over times the score was still 0. Neither goalies were giving the other team any opportunity. It was finally after the 4th shooter in a shoot out that Maddie Min scored the game winner with a beauty shot. The girls took the game from a team they hadn't previously beat all year. Off to the finals it was!!! Here the girls met with the top team in the province. The London Majors! Friends off the ice but everyone was here for Gold. The girls battled hard right up until the end when the final score was 3-1 in favour of the majors. It was an incredible weekend for the Minors and they made us all so proud! Great work to everyone and congratulations on that beauty medal!
