to Atom AA Tryouts for the 2018/19 Season
My name is Steve Ryall and I will be the Head Coach for the season. This
will be my fourth season with LDGHA, Novice through Atom. Please read and review all the information below.
Selections for the team are to be made with the assistance of current coaches within the organization at other age levels, as well as independent evaluators who have hockey coaching experience but have no association with the team or any of their players. These individuals will help to make the final decision through an unbiased evaluation system.
By following the Hockey Canada guidelines for skill to system coaching, my goal is to create a competitive and fun environment. I anticipate that the girls will come to the rink every practice and game with their best effort. The coaching staff (to be decided, and announced after tryouts) will focus on developing the players' skills while teaching them the key aspects of the game and also implementing some off ice preparation methods. We will be having a mandatory parent meeting within a month of the on ice tryouts commencing.
Tryout Info:
All goalies are to attend Tryout 1 and the "Goalie Only Tryout". Tryout 2 & 3 will be invite only.
Skaters are to attend Tryout 1. Due to the expected volume of players trying out, we will be creating a list of specific times the skater is to attend, for each 1 hour session of all the tryouts. This will be based on the last name of the skater that was provided during registration. This will be posted the night before the first tryout. Example: Players last name starts with A-G 5pm, H-M 6pm, and N-Z 7pm.
Tryout 2 & 3 will be invite only for both skaters and goalies. The invite list will be posted the night prior. Those not on the list will be encouraged to tryout for the Atom A team. Atom AA will have 15 skaters and 2 goalies for the upcoming season.
Players are encouraged to work hard and have fun. It is very important they listen to the on ice instructor for all tryouts.
Tryout Schedule (players are asked to arrive early to pick up your assigned tryout jersey, room assignment, and make the scheduled ice time):
Tryout 1 - Open to all - Thu, Apr 12, 5:00 PM-8:00 PM: London-Nichols(A)
Goalies Only Tryout - Fri, Apr 13, 5:30 PM-6:30 PM: London-Sports Park-South
Tryout 2 - Invite Only - Sat, Apr 14, 8:00 AM-10:00 AM: London-Sports Park-North
Tryout 3 - Invite Only - Sun, Apr 15, 5:30 PM-7:30 PM: London-Western Fair (parent only meeting prior to skate)
Exhibition games for invited players are scheduled for April 21 & 22
Important Info:
-Players must be registered in order to attend tryouts.
-All OWHA players who did not play for the LDGHA last year and are trying out this year must register online through Quickenrollment and obtain a Permission to Skate (PTS) form from the player's most recent OWHA association.
-Players who played outside the OWHA do not need a PTS form.
-LDGHA must receive this PTS form before tryouts commence.
-This form must be given to the coach at the first tryout attended.
-Under no circumstances will a player be allowed on the ice for tryouts without a PTS form
-Copies of the PTS forms will only be accepted after online registration is complete.
