Update on New Restrictions
Attention Devilettes Families,
We appreciate your patience while we processed the news announced by the Middlesex-London Health Unit. For those of you who were not aware, the MLHU announced a set of orders on Wednesday afternoon, severely impacting the operations of our organization. We had been operating in compliance with all federal, provincial, municipal and OWHA guidelines.
After numerous conversations with Dr. Chris Mackie, his colleagues at the MLHU and various other affected organizations, a virtual town hall was held today, Oct. 23rd. It is with great pleasure that we advise that we have been provided official confirmation from the MLHU that we are able to resume hockey activities with some modifications. These are outlined below:
-The maximum permitted on the arena pad is 25 and that includes coaches/instructors and officials.
-24 players and coaches can be on an ice pad at once but need to be divided into 2 groups of 12 with a three meter buffer between them (1.5 meters on each side of the centre ice line).
-Full ice drills can be run if 12 players are on the ice and 12 players are on the bench. The 12 players on the benches need to be 2 meters apart.
-All coaches must wear a mask while on the ice surface.
-For team sports with substitutions, scrimmages, a maximum of 12 players are permitted on each roster (24 between the two teams).
-Individuals not actively participating (on the bench), 2 meters must be maintained between individuals.
-No body contact.
Our Competitive Directors and House League Director are currently working with the coaches to roll these changes out. Everyone in the association must do their part to keep the girls on the ice by following arena rules and staff directions. Parents, we suggest a five minute conversation with your daughter to stress the importance of these rules. Remember that we will be under the spotlight and must take every precaution to ensure the privilege of playing hockey continues.
I want to thank the coaches for your continued support of our players, the parents for your continued support of our organization and our board of directors, the hours and time that has been put forth is commendable and appreciated, thanks.
