U18AA Coaching Announcement
The LDGHA Board of Directors is very excited to welcome back Jason Hertner, Head Coach, and Sherri Burgess-Hertner, Team Trainer, for the U18AA program for upcoming 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 seasons. Please click on READ MORE for bio and details.
Jason comes to the Devilettes organization with a passion for hockey and a talent to further develop athletes; he is HP1 Coaching Certified and brings a breadth of experience and synergies to our organization.
The 2023/24 season saw great success for a young team. Respect was quickly earned as a young, talented team learned to play connected systems and believed in their motto to, 'Get Better Everyday'. On the ice, Jason's knowledge and strength as a coach allowed individual players to improve, as well as learn the importance of playing within a 'team first' structure.
Off the ice, team building and team bonding were led by their elite trainer, fitness instructor, 24-year veteran teacher, and recent Ironman, Sherri Burgess-Hertner. Sherri brought her passion for mental toughness, and elite training mindset routines to the team's weekly dryland sessions and team building activities. Dryland training, coupled with pre-season retreats and summer training camps, as well as a memorable trip to Nashville, were great motivators throughout the season.
This will be Jason's 5th season as a U18AA coach. He is also a former Director of Hockey Development and Head Coach with the Cambridge Roadrunners, a former Assistant Coach with the Wilfred Laurier’s Men’s varsity hockey team and a former Skill Development Instructor for 18 years with CAN/AM STARS Hockey School in Guelph.
Jason played 5 seasons with the Brock University Men’s varsity team and is a former Cambridge Winter Hawk Jr. B Player who was named an All-Star in each of his 3 seasons.
Jason comes to us with over 26 years of professional teaching experience, including Head of Athletics and Head Coach of school teams.
