The London Devilettes U15A team continued their outstanding season with a second straight tournament championship, capturing gold at the Whitby Wolves Tournament of Heroes from December 5 to 7.
Fresh off their gold medal win at the CCM Girls World Invite, the team battled through a strong fourteen team field. On Friday they opened with a 3 to 3 tie against the Toronto Leaside Wildcats, followed by a 2 to 1 victory over the Oakville Hornets.
Saturday morning brought a redeeming 3 to 2 win over the Nepean Wildcats, avenging a previous shootout loss at the Oakville Harvest Classic tournament and securing a place in the semifinals. Later that evening the team faced the North Bay Junior Lakers and earned another 2 to 1 win.
In the Sunday semifinal the Devilettes met the Stratford Aces in a tight game that was decided in three on three overtime, with a final score of 3 to 2.
In the championship game the Devilettes once again faced the Toronto Leaside Wildcats and secured the gold medal with a 1 to 0 overtime win in a very hard fought battle by both teams.
A special shout out goes to Delaney, who cheered on her teammates from home every game and showed incredible support throughout the weekend. This back to back tournament success is a reflection of the effort, resilience, and team first attitude of every player, coach, and family in the U15A Devilettes program.
