The U11BB London Devilettes capped off an impressive playoff run with a hard-fought 2–1 loss to the Oshawa Lady Generals in the Southern Championship game, closing the book on a postseason that showcased resilience, growth, and determination.
Coming into the playoffs, the Devilettes faced long odds. After finishing fourth in the regular season southern district standings, they entered the bracket as underdogs. But what followed was a remarkable run that proved this team was far stronger than their placement suggested.
In the opening round, London stunned the top-seeded Niagara Rapids, taking the series in three games. Their disciplined defensive play and timely scoring set the tone early, as they outworked and outlasted a team that had dominated much of the regular season.
The momentum carried into the next round, where the Devilettes faced the second-place Oakville Hornets. Once again, London rose to the occasion, winning the series in three games. Hustle and a balanced offensive effort helped them overcome another higher-ranked opponent, earning them the title of Southern Division Champions!
After tie games against the East Division and Central Division winners, the Devilettes earned their spot in the Southern Loop Championship. The final against Oshawa was a tightly contested battle from start to finish and both teams played with intensity.
While the loss was undoubtedly disappointing, it does little to overshadow what the Devilettes accomplished. Defeating the top two teams in the South Division standings and pushing through to the championship game is a testament to their character, teamwork, and perseverance.
For a team that entered the playoffs as the fourth seed, the Devilettes didn’t just compete—they proved they belonged among the very best. Congratulations Devilettes!
Good luck at Provincials!
