Dear LDGHA Families,
The London Devilettes Girls Hockey Association (LDGHA) is steadfast in our commitment to cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for our athletes, their families, and our entire community.
To translate this commitment into meaningful action, we are pleased to announce the introduction of mandatory Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) education sessions for both players and coaches, in alignment with Hockey Canada’s recommended guidelines.
These sessions will take place on Sunday, January 26, 2025, and are designed to engage all participants in important discussions surrounding inclusivity, respect, and the vital role diversity plays within the hockey world. While the sessions are mandatory for all players and staff, we highly encourage family members to attend as well. Each session will be facilitated by Ed Aliu from the Hockey Diversity Alliance (HDA), an organization at the forefront of promoting inclusion in the sport.
The sessions will be offered at four different times throughout the day to accommodate your schedules. Detailed information regarding the date, time, and location of these sessions is listed below. The Hockey Diversity Alliance (HDA) was founded in 2020 by a group of eight prominent NHL players, including Akim Aliu, Anthony DuClair, Matt Dumba, Wayne Simmonds, Chris Stewart, Joel Ward, and London’s very own Nazem Kadri. HDA’s mission is to promote inclusivity, eliminate discrimination, and advance diversity within the hockey community—values that align with our own. We look forward to seeing you all at these important sessions as we continue to foster a more inclusive and welcoming hockey environment for all. Please be advised that attendance is required for this event, and we kindly ask that you sign in upon arrival to help us keep track of participation. We highly recommend carpooling, as each event is expected to have a large attendance and may overlap in timing. Additionally, the Sports Park arena will be operating as usual, which could further impact parking and traffic.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Warm regards,Michelle McClean, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
